It's easy to see why this wonderful blend from Suntory wins so many awards, so well balanced and simply unctuous. Hibiki means reonance in Japanese and uses over 30 different whiskies from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries all of which are at least 30 years old. Tasting Notes: Nose - Deep and rich aromas of dark fruit (figs in honey / chocolate covered raisins / dates in cognac) thick cut blood orange marmalade, old leather, roasted brazil nuts, caramelised and waxy ripe orchard fruits, aromatic spices, treacle tart, star anise, incence wood, old church pews and tea chests. Palate - So mellow and inviting with its dark chocolate, orange and ripe fruits (figs and dates) sticky toffee pudding, honeycomb, nut brittle, soft and subtle aromatic spices before more waves of chocolate, antique oak, leather and saville orange notes on this luxurious mouthfeel/body. Finish - The finest silky and mellow, sweet and spicy with balancing aromatic oak finish, so moreish and almost too easy drinking. Awarded best blended whisky in the world in 2007 and 2008 at the world whisky awards and also a previous winner of the same title at the IWSC (international wine and spirits competition) in 2006,2007 and 2008!
