The delicious Jura 12 Year Old has been matured in a combination of American white oak and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. The Sherry cask element gives this whisky a richer, fruitier character than the 10 Year Old release. Rich, sweet, fruity, and aromatic with a pleasing whisper of smoke. Tasting Notes: Nose: Very aromatic spices (a spice stand at a Turkish market) earthy red fruit (like pick your own strawberries on a rainy day) dried figs and dates, Sherry oak evident and touches of old tea chest wood on the bonfire and toasted pecan nuts in honey and some cigar box aromas. Palate: Malty honeycomb delivery, banana bread, aromatic bonfire smoke (camphor wood and cinnamon) juicy and mellow body with notes of mocha, walnut, ginger and some black fruit (cassis cordial) Finish: Apple candyfloss on bonfire night, caramac bars and tunnocks toffee wafers, the sweet and aromatic smoke continues into fruity liquorice and banana chips with late black forest fruit and earthy wood notes.
