Aged in American white oak and a combination of 6 different types of French oak (Vosges, Bertranges, Jupilles, Allier, Troncais and Limousin if you are interested?). A well made and well balanced offering. This has a great combination of sweet fruit flavours, abundant wood spice, and subtle hints of smoke. Tasting Notes: Nose: Aromatic berry fruits, toasted hazelnuts, aniseed like spice, blueberry muffins, smoke is less subtle here than in the 10 or 12 year old, lemon balm, toasted toffee and vanilla wafers. Palate: A thicker mouthfeel for Jura, more of that blueberry/forest fruit note, toffee and hazelnut, praline, ginger biscuits, a firm oak presence and some smoke late on (hot chocolate on the bonfire) Finish: Bitter chocolate, orange marmalade, french toast, toffee apple and wood char and some red berry fruit tea tannins.
