Forget everything you once knew about Firestone. That’s ancient history. The recently reincarnated Firestone Vineyard is now one of California’s most exciting producers. The three-year transformation began in 2008 when Bill Foley purchased the winery and its 400 acres of vineyards located 26 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Santa Ynez Valley. A year later he brought in highly-regarded Paul Warson to handle the winemaking duties and Richard Camera to resuscitate the vineyards. Since then the wines have been uniformly spectacular, earning praise and high scores from gatekeepers and media. Across the board, Firestone’s new reds are deep, intense, luscious, balanced and juicy and the whites are crisp, concentrated and delicious. |
