It all began in 1992 when chemical engineer Manuel Mas returned to his Mendoza birthplace and took over the vineyard in the heart of Mendoza wine country. A connoisseur of art, the piano, and good drinks, he bought Finca La Anita, naming it after his mother, and began crafting a selected production of elegant wines inspired by chateaux of France and Italian vineyard life. Mas created Finca La Anita in a time when Agrelo was desolate virgin lands. He set out to break free from the mass production of wines in the area, and create a high quality Argentine wine that purely expressed the land. Through word of mouth and a strong presence in the best restaurants of Buenos Aires, Finca La Anita quickly became the archetype for Argentina to follow as a small family-owned operation that produced high end prestigious wines of maximum quality. Today, Mas and Finca La Anita continue to be leading innovators, channeling its iconic history to pioneer Argentina’s new frontier of fine wines.
