Zuccardi owns several prime sites in Uco Valley, including their two highest vineyards in Gualtallary and San Pablo, both of them rich in calcaire. Like some of his colleagues who are seeking to preserve terroir differences in their various wines, Sebastian Zuccardi vinifies mostly in concrete tanks and eggs, and also makes extensive use of concrete and used foudres to age his wine. He told me that he hasn’t purchased any new barriques in the past four years. Wine maker notes The range name Zuccardi Q stems from the practice of marking with a ”Q” -from Quality- the oldest and uniforms plots of each vineyard, which worked with special attention to achieve grapes of exceptional quality batches. Today, the grapes wich is produced Zuccardi Q, come from recognized micro-regions in the Uco Valley and selected old vineyards.
Producer Familia Zuccardi is a family owned winery started in 1963 when they planted the first vineyard in Maipu, then a desert region, followed in 1973 by a second vineyard in Santa Rosa, another desert.
