Casado (Portuguese for marriage) isa limited edition bottling which wasmatured in fresh bourbon barrels for 6 years before 38 casks were selected andmarried together for 2 years in two 6,000 litre Portuguese red wine vats. Tasting Notes: Nose: An opening note of intense campfiresmoke balanced with ripe summer stonefruits; peach, plum and cherry. Deep notesof marzipan become the focus combinedwith layered maritime notes. Taste: The red wine vatting bringspepper and spice on the first taste. Dry, salty peat smoke sits on the palate, yet fruit notes of apricot and lemon findtheir way through. Finish: A long finish which brings ahot, spicy character from the marriagein Portuguese red wine vats. Stewed, cooked fruit notes bring a sweet-jamprofile providing an on-going sweet-ness that the classic Kilchoman smokebalances beautifully.
