Grape: 60% Xarel. lo, 30% Macabeo and 10% Parellada Tasting Notes: Mineral, Lemon, Orange peel, Pear 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue and 5 years later the Raventós family started living on their estate. Twenty-one generations have worked their vines and forest. It was a member of the Raventos family who, in 1872, made the first sparkling wine, produced by the traditional method, using the 3 native Spanish grapes listed above. Today, they believe theirs are sparkling wines with the highest mineral expressions in the world. For that reason, the Raventos have started to call their sparkling wines Conca del Riu Anoia, instead of the generic term Cava. The Raventos family only produces vintage sparkling wines. The 2017 is chewy in texture, sharply focused and dry, showing impressive clarity to its tree fruit, Meyer lemon and mineral flavors. It has a full and plump mouthfeel with some citrusy acidity to keep things fresh. The finish is long, saline focused and elegant. Delicious with anything from smoked salmon to mushroom risotto.
