Vina Cobos makes wines that are authentic expressions of the terroir from which they come. Paul Hobbs, founding partner and winemaker at Vina Cobos, has worked since 1988 in the exploration of the different terroirs of Mendoza, looking for the most distinguished regions in Lujan de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco, to produce wines that uniquely express their origins. Deep, brilliant red. On the nose, aromas of cassis, black cherries, blackberries, and floral notes elegantly complement sweet and pungent spices like nutmeg, black pepper and tobacco. A dusky, garnet red in the glass. The nuanced nose is led by pyrazines followed by blackcurrant, blackberry and ash with camphor and potent spice notes. Intense and juicy with a slick feel, the flavors develop clearly at the back of the mouth along with a good body and plenty of subtle, measured details. 93 Points - James SucklingThis is a firm, chewy cabernet with lots of tannins and toasted oak to the currant and oyster-shell character. Tobacco, too. Medium-to full-bodied. Needs time to soften.
