95 Points - DecanterLiger-Belair owns a 0. 75ha parcel planted to old vines in the centre of the vineyard, on the border with Ech?zeaux, in the section of the Clos known as Baudes Basses. A large proportion of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters, producing remarkably pure, immediately attractive ripe black fruit, dressed with hints of spice and fresh violets. The texture is dense and firm, but very polished and elegant. A very sophisticated Clos de Vougeot. 92+ Points - Vinous
From the southern side of the clos, the 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru includes 40% whole bunch from the parcel planted in 1944. The bouquet is tightly wound at first, opening to reveal blackberry, briary, cedar and light loamy aromas. The palate is nicely structured with firm grip, touches of black pepper and blood orange infusing the mainly black fruit. The finish just needs to manifest a little more finesse, and that might happen during the remainder of barrel maturation, of course.
