In an orchestration of land, sun, and moisture, Cambria Estate Winery, in the heart of Santa Barbara County, produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from its vineyards in the Santa Maria Bench. For more than 20 years, the Jackson family has sustainably farmed and passionately tended this remarkable property in order to consistently produce wines that are 100 percent estate grown, fully revealing the essence of the Santa Maria Bench. Formed from ancient alluvial deposits, Bench Break Vineyard soils are the shallowest on the estate. The shallow soils restrict vine vigor, leading to riper fruit with more concentrated flavors. Maritime influences funnel in from the Pacific Ocean to cloak the Santa Maria Bench in mild temperatures and extend the vineyard?s growing season. The resulting wines are direct representations of the land from which they come. Wine Enthusiast Magazine named Cambria?s 2006 Julia?s Vineyard Pinot Noir the best wine of 2009. |
